What have others said about the space?

We used the Museum Makers’ space for our Community Champions sharing and networking event and I could not fault it!

We had Community Champions from all walks of life find it very inclusive, accessible and friendly. One of our attendees bought their young children and found it very easy to access with the push chair, plus the small space off the kitchen, allowed for a quiet prayer space before the lunch was served.

The technology worked effortlessly! And you can’t say that in many places. Plus the huge screen was perfect for all to be able to see and engage with.

We’ll be using the space again for sure.

I use Museum Makers and Learning Studio regularly for leading sessions on art, creative writing and research. These are fantastic spaces. The Museum Makers is a large space which is attractive, flexible, airy, modern, inviting and practical with movable furniture, a sink, access to a kitchen and toilets and accessible by a lift. Social distancing is no problem.

The Learning Studio is also very flexible and pleasantly fresh and modern. There is a white board and flip chart both of which are movable. Furniture can be arranged to our needs. Access to a kitchen, toilets and a lift make this space accessible to everyone. This is a purposeful and flexible space.

A fantastic space in a great location. The room was ideal for our rehearsals, with plenty of space and resources for us to use throughout the creative process. All the volunteers and staff were responsive, friendly and helpful. Museum Makers was very easy to access, with accommodation for wheelchair users – this was vital for us and the work we were doing. It was easy to discuss any access accommodations with the Museum and they were very proactive in discussing this with us.

It was super useful having a space slap bang in the middle of the city centre. The transport links were convenient, with frequent buses and the train station only a 10-minute walk away. We had participants travelling from all parts of Oxfordshire and they all found it simple to get there. Working in a space linked to the Museum was something our team really enjoyed. Our project was about Oxford’s history, so being embedded in a Museum dedicated to Oxford and its people really added something to our process. The participants all commented on how working in the space made them feel very legitimate and empowered. It’s brilliant to have the chance to work in a space like this. I would absolutely use the space again.

Oxford Pride have used the Museum Makers’ space on a couple of occasions and really like it. Its central location and it being in a location that is easy to find has proved really useful when we are encouraging people from outside Oxford City to participate in events.

It is light and bright and has space for people to work creatively but also enough room to encourage small groups if needed. Wheelchair access (and access to bring in heavier materials) has been great as have the kitchen and toilet facilities.

We would love to use the space again as it worked really well for our youth sessions, banner making and when we had a visiting celebrity.
