Take a walk on the wild side!

Would you want to take a hyena for a walk? Or have chimpanzees to tea? When did we start seeking out wild animals as pets? And how far have we come from Victorian attitudes to animals? Dr Elle Larsson takes us through the fascinating history of the exotic animal trade.

Dr Elle Larsson is a social and cultural historian of science whose research focuses on the history of natural history and the exotic animal trade. She is a council member of the Society for the History of Natural History and a co-founder and co-convenor of the Animal History Group.
