“Community Became Home”: The Journey of the Oxford Hindu Temple

4 April — 4 July 2026

This exhibition celebrates the remarkable journey of the Oxford Hindu Temple & Community Centre. Over the past twenty years, a dedicated group of individuals have worked together to create a permanent space for the local Hindu community in Oxfordshire.

Through photographs, personal stories, and objects, this exhibition spotlights the collective effort behind this journey to transform former football club’s changing rooms into a vibrant spiritual, cultural, and community space open to all.

The Museum of Oxford collaborated with a small group from the community, as well as with photographer Meghana Geetha, between November 2025 — March 2026 to reminisce on this journey and to co-curate this temporary exhibition.

Special event: Join us at our next museum late event, celebrating the opening of this new temporary exhibition. The evening’s activities will include traditional music and Bharatanatyam dance performances, henna, and the opportunity to explore the museum’s galleries and shop after hours. This is a free drop-in event, running between 6-8pm, with activities and performances throughout the evening. This event has been organised in collaboration with the Oxford Hindu Temple & Community Centre.
