General admission

The Museum of Oxford operates a paid entry model, which helps support our exhibitions, collections, learning and community programmes. Day tickets can be booked in-person on the day of your visit or online in advance. Some visitors are entitled to concessionary or free entry.

  • £4 – Standard day ticket: 
    • Adults (18+)
  • £2 – Concessions day ticket:
    • Young people aged 5-17
    • Students
    • Blue Light card holders
  • Free day ticket:
    • Under 5s
    • Carers accompanying a Disabled visitor
    • Museums Association / National Art Pass members

All day tickets entitle you to re-entry to the Museum of Oxford on the day of your visit.

Please note that we may ask you to show proof of eligibility for concessionary or free day tickets (e.g. student ID) on the day of your visit.

Free annual passes

A number of groups are entitled to free annual passes, which grant you free entry to the Museum of Oxford’s galleries for a year. Passes can be renewed annually.

  • People who are registered Blind/Disabled
  • Foster carers
  • Asylum seekers, refugees and people seeking sanctuary
  • People in receipt of the following state benefits:
    • Council Tax Reduction Scheme (please note this does not include Single Person Discount)
    • Severe Disablement Allowance
    • Disability Living Allowance (DLA) or Personal Independence Payment
    • Housing Benefit
    • Universal Credit – Housing Element
    • Pension Credit
    • Carer’s Allowance
    • People living in homeless pathway accommodation

To register for a free annual pass, please visit the Museum and speak to a member of our friendly team. You may be required to present proof of eligibility (e.g. Blue badge, evidence of relevant benefits awards) in order to register.

Oxford Town Hall, St Aldates, Oxford, OX1 1BX.

The Museum of Oxford (MOX) is located inside the beautiful Grade II* listed Oxford Town Hall. Enter the Town Hall by the main entrance or the step-free level entrance (which can be found to the north of the main entrance along St Aldates). When you enter the Museum, you’ll arrive at our Museum Shop, where our friendly team are looking forward to welcoming you!

External maintenance works at Oxford Town Hall (from August 2025)

From August 2025, scaffolding will be in place outside Oxford Town Hall. These essential works are part of ongoing efforts to preserve the Grade II* listed building and ensure it remains a safe and welcoming space. The Museum of Oxford and Oxford Town Hall will remain fully open and accessible during this time. Travelling here

Bus By bus: Many local bus services stop outside the Museum on St Aldates, or around the corner on the High Street. Many national coach services stop at Gloucester Green bus station, which is just a 10 minute walk from the Museum.
Bike By bike: There are 10 bike rings attached to Oxford Town Hall and bike racks available on Queens Street near Carfax Tower.
Car By car: If you need to travel by car, we recommend using the Park and Ride. Visit our access page to find out about accessible parking in Oxford.

Museum Shop

The Museum of Oxford’s shop stocks hundreds of exciting and unique products and gifts. Many are locally sourced from Oxfordshire and include arts, crafts and jewellery handmade by local producers. We hold a range of books about local history as well as postcards, greeting cards, souvenirs, toys and games.
