Make a real difference
The Museum of Oxford has been sharing the story of Oxford and its people for nearly 50 years. Our mission is to work in partnership with Oxford’s communities to co-create exhibitions and events that celebrate cultural heritage and the history of Oxford. You can help us continue with our amazing work by making a donation. Every donation, no matter what size, makes a difference.
Museum of Oxford Development Trust (MOXDT) is a registered charity set up in 2017 to raise funds and support museum activities. The Trust’s purpose is to fundraise to support our work with audiences and communities across Oxford. Find out more about the Trust on the Charity Commission website.
How your money helps us
We rely on a wide range of sources to support our day-to-day running costs and work with Oxford’s communities. You can donate as an individual, through a trust, through a foundation, or through a company. We’re incredibly grateful for every gift we receive.
Your support is vital and helps us to:
Create changing exhibitions in collaboration with our communities.
Care for, study and share our collections with the public.
Engage schools, community groups, local people and visitors in Oxford's heritage.
Keep the museum free for everyone to enjoy.
Regular and one-off donations
By making a regular or one-off donation to the museum, you are directly contributing to the preservation of Oxford’s unique cultural heritage.
We raise money online using a secure platform called the Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) via the Museum of Oxford Development Trust, a registered charity (charity no. 1173867) that supports our work. You can use CAFDonate to make a regular or one-off donation.
Donate
If you wish to donate via cheque or bank transfer, or if you’d like to talk about supporting the Museum of Oxford, please contact the Museum of Oxford Development Trust by email at museum@oxford.gov.uk
Pay what you can
We don’t charge for admission, but that doesn’t mean that the museum is free to run. By paying what you can on your visit, you help us to keep the museum free for everyone to enjoy and directly support our amazing work.
Gifts in Wills
Whether a gift (a financial contribution) in your will or a donation in memory of someone dear to you, your legacy will have a lasting impact on the museum.
Leaving a gift in your will
Remembering the Museum of Oxford by leaving a gift in your will, no matter what size, can help us care for the collection, support special exhibitions about Oxford’s people and deliver learning and community programmes.
Whether or not you already have a will, your legal advisor can help draft wording in either a new will or by adding additional wording that explains and modifies your existing will (called a codicil). They’ll need to know that we receive legacy gifts through The Museum of Oxford Development Trust (registered charity no. 1173867), c/o Museum of Oxford, Museum of Oxford, Oxford Town Hall, St. Aldates, Oxford, OX1 1BX.
Donate in memory
When we lose a loved one, remembering them in a meaningful way can bring consolation. Your gift can help the memory of a friend or relative live on while supporting the Museum’s work.
If you’re considering remembering the Museum of Oxford through a gift in your will or a donation in memory you can contact the museum via email to discuss how your contribution could benefit the Museum’s work.
Business support
If your business is working with Oxford City Council, you can support us by registering with Match My Project and selecting a Museum of Oxford project you’d like to support. Match My Project is a meeting point for businesses and the community sector, where community organisations can get help for their projects from businesses working with Oxford. Find out more on the Match My Project website.
Alternatively, you can contact us via email to discuss how your contribution could benefit the Museum’s work.
Our supporters
Without our supporters, the Museum of Oxford would be unable to make such a difference to so many people in the city. We want to say a big thank you to all individuals and organisations who have helped us. There are many more than we can list here, and every supporter has made a big difference.
