Every year we work with older people in the city at events, at care homes, and in hospitals to discuss and share their stories as part of the Moments and Memories service.
The process of reminiscence has been proven to help connect people, reduce loneliness and symptoms of depression, promote physical health, reduce stress, and enhance self-esteem.
Their stories are in danger of being lost forever, making this work key to the preservation of Oxford’s history.
Your support, by donating through the Library of you, can help us to continue this work with Oxford’s older people.
What is included
By donating to the Library of you, you can create your own book title to go on a specially created book spine that will be on display at the centre of the Museum of Oxford where visitors will be able to see the contribution you have made. Your support will ensure that we can continue to work with Oxford’s older residents.
Donate £50 for your name (or someone else’s!) and your made-up book title to appear on our special Library of you bookcase for one year. Your help can ensure this important work with Oxford’s older residents continues and grows.
When you donate we will send you:
- A confirmation email to check about your story title and the name you would like to appear on the Library of you bookcase.
- A mock-up of how your book will appear in the new Museum of Oxford.
- An invite to the new Museum of Oxford opening!
- A free ticket to a talk of your choice at the Museum of Oxford – available for a year from donating.
