Mixing Matters was a partnership project which ran from 2019 to 2021. In relaxed gatherings, we shared stories of our favourite recipes and meaningful food-related objects. We created art and ate together.
This exhibition features our personal, everyday objects which carry within them our family histories, marked in one way or another by journeying and movement.
Our objects help us feel a connection with a particular place or a person, often someone from an older generation. They are a physical link between the homes we have left – whether by choice or force – and the homes we have since built.
Through these objects, artwork and audio recordings of our conversations, we are sharing with you memories usually heard only by our families.
You can find Mixing Matters in our community displays in Gallery 1 and is available every day the Museum is open.
