Discover Oxford’s incredible history with interactive family friendly activities this summer holiday.
Audio Tours
For one day only, get £1 off our family audio trail.
Join explorers Florence and Jericho as they take you on an audio journey to discover the secrets of MOX Island. Once you’ve solved all the clues you’ll be rewarded with a prize to take home! Suitable for ages 5-11. Approx duration 30 mins.
Hands-on History
Come and have a go at handling some of our museum objects at a hands-on history drop-in session! Our volunteers will help you to touch, feel and handle objects ranging from Roman pottery to Second World War helmets. You’ll also get to learn about the stories behind the objects and what they can tell us about our city’s amazing past.
Find the hands-on history station in Gallery One of the Museum of Oxford, 11.00-14.00. This is a free, drop-in session with no need to book. Please note this activity is subject to volunteer availability.
Backpacks
Borrow a free backpack and meet the people of Oxford. Let them guide you around the museum using your senses. Complete challenges and uncover more about the amazing history on display at the Museum of Oxford. Please note there are a limited number of backpacks available to borrow from the museum shop.
Gallery Trails
Choose one of our themed gallery trails to explore our permanent collection and temporary exhibitions. Trails are suitable for all the family and free to pick up from the museum shop.
